Delighful

Adorable, agreeable, alluring, ambrosial, amusing, attractive, beautiful, captivating, cheery, clever, congenial, darling, delectable, delicious, enchanting, engaging, enjoyable, entertaining, fair, fascinating, gratifying, heavenly, ineffable, lovely, luscious, lush, pleasing, pleasurable, rapturous, ravishing, refreshing, satisfying, scrumptious, thrilling, yummy.

Delight, what an amazing word. I gathered the above list of words from an online thesaurus. I'm convinced only a lovely word like DELIGHTFUL could have such perfectly wonderful synonyms. This word and it's meaning has been on my mind alot these days. Joy is a condition we have been given as a parting gift from our loving Heavenly Father. I for one, have been deeply blessed with many other gifts as well; born with the gospel, born in a free county, married to an amazing man, two beautiful and healthy boys to name a few. I believe we receive blessings for many reasons but I think they are mostly a reminder to feel joy or to be delightful. Did you know that a form of the word "delight" is used about 78 times in the scriptures. In reference to topics such as; chastity, good parenting, honesty, service, music, the sabbath, and honor. I've been trying to find joy in my life each day, sometimes I forget, or other times my day just seems "same ol" with nothing interesting that happened. I think the key to this life style is to 'delight' in things each day. When that happens, then you are filled with the joy you have been seeking. For instance, President Uchtdorf spoke at the General Relief Society Broadcast last month. In his talk he challenged the women of the church to find 'Godly happiness' by being creating, and being compassionate. I have been putting this to the test and found that I delight in creativity, and by doing so find joy each day. Simple things such as cutting paper with Ammon or baking something yummy (especially if it's for someone else) or working in our yard, or writing on my blog have brought me joy and delight and 'Godly happiness' because it has caused me to take note of the things I do. This deliberate process of simple actions (many of which I was already doing) have opened the window for the joy and peace I was seeking. Now I know I'm rambling a bit but I felt I needed to spell all this out, more for my benefit then yours. I feel that we are meant to have reason to delight, so that we might become delightsome! Everyone I know of in the scriptures that were called such were promised a place in heaven. Sounds like a good deal to me! So go out there, be creative and compassionate, delight in life and feel joy! As President Uchtdorf said this truly is our "Heritage".

Isn't it wonderful.....

to know that even at your worst, even on your fat days or your sleepy days, or your PMS days, or your sick days your children still love you and trust you completely? Who could want more?

Pie and Poetry

I have AWESOME friends! One of these awesome people (Sarah) decided to host a very awesome party. She is by far the most clever and upbeat person I think I've ever met. Anyway, To make the story short, she LOVES paint colors, and collects paint cards from the home improvement store. Her best friend (who was visiting) LOVES pie. So of course it was cause for a party! The idea was a Pie and Poetry party where we took the color's names from the paint cards and created our own free form poetry to share we each other over a slice or two of pie! Here's a few pics of the party.

What a pleasant mess!

everyone was so creative

And then there was PIE!

And cider!

My finished product simply titled, "Ode to Seasons"

Everyone had a total blast and really seemed to be comfortable with sharing. I would completely recommend this party idea, what could be better then paint, paper, poems and pie!
